Social mobility refers to the change in the social status of a person or a group.social mobility simply means that a change in a social structure of an individual.The change can be either higher or lower.social mobility can be classified in to several way,and also people can experience different types of mobility in their lives.mobility is classified in to six .Horizontal mobility,Vertical mobility,Upward mobility, Downward mobility,inter generational mobility, inter generational mobility. Horizontal mobility means that when a person change their occupation but their overall social standing is unchanged or is the process of making change in the same status level( eg; Doctor)Vertical mobility is an important form of social mobility.It is the process of change in one status to another,it may be higher or lower.Upward mobility is a type of mobility,if a person moves from a lower position in society to higher position of the same social group or society.it help to change in the attitude,aptitude,economical status of a person.And also help to change their way of thinking and behavior Downward mobility is just opposite of upward mobility.When a person moves from higher social level to lower .Inter generational mobility means when the social position changes from one generation to another.so the change can be upward or down ward.(eg;a farmer give better opportunity to education and his son become a doctor or lawyer. Intra generational mobility means social position occurs during the life span of the single generation .
